Glenda Whitson

Glenda Marie Whitson, 61, of Freeport, IL. This strong woman lost her long battle with cancer on Friday April 15, 2022 at Lena Living Center. She was born September 20, 1960 in Freeport, IL to Bernard and Dorothy (Kruse) Flock. It is consoling to know that Glenda did not exit this life in pain and went peacefully during her sleep with family by her side. Glenda was married to Randy Whitson for 28 years. With two children James Whitson and Jennifer Whitson. She was a member of Forreston High School class of 1979, later achieved her GED. She graduated from HCC in 1992. Glenda was employed at Structo, the Ramada Inn in South Beloit, WI, FSD #145, Election Judge for Stephenson County and Swiss Colony. She was a member of the Eagles Club #679, 20 years with the American Red Cross and lifetime member and leader of the Girl Scouts. During her life, she touched many people who have credited her for inspiring them because she truly believed in them. Glenda saw and fostered the potential and worth of every person she met. She loved every person she met unconditionally, with honesty and respect. Glenda enjoyed spending time with her family/friends, taking great pride in her gardening, various crafts/card making, and big cats especially tigers. She is survived by her son James and daughter Jennifer; mother Dorothy Flock; former husband Randy Whitson; two brothers and five sisters: Brenda Booth, Ed (Judy) Booth, Paula Poyett, Pam (Mike) Sutton, Teresa Brinkmeier, Bernadine (Don) Kampfenstein, and Norman (Minna) Flock and numerous nieces and nephews; special friends: Lynn Plata, Avery Heiden, Rachel (Damien) Nipple and family, and James Manning. A special thanks to Aunt Joann and Tammy. Preceding Glenda in death are Bernard Flock, George and Mabel Kruse, Delbert Zettle, Lee and Nancy Whitson, in addition to numerous beloved family members and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday April 21, 2022 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 North Walnut Ave., Freeport, Illinois. Rev. Keith Johnson will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday. There will also be a visitation Wednesday April 20, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home.
