Gladys C. Beldt

Gladys C. Beldt, 93, of Freeport died Thursday in Parkview Home. She was born May 28, 1918 in Freeport the daughter of Clarence A. and Florence (Tumms) Rust. After the death of her mother she was raised by her stepmother Lillian Rust. On June 19, 1941 Gladys married Raymond E. Beldt in Freeport. He died October 2, 1983. Mrs. Beldt was a graduate of the University of Iowa. She taught school in Peoria, Illinois and later was a substitute in Freeport. Mrs. Beldt was the oldest living member of Faith United Methodist Church. She was a member of PEO and the Amity Society. She was active in the Winneshiek Theatre and enjoyed playing Bridge. Mrs. Beldt is survived by her two sons; Richard E. Beldt of Cheyenne Wy. And Dr. Roger J. (Gisele) Beldt of Destin, Fla. Two grandchildren; Lindsey (A.J.) Alvarez and Bret A. (Megan) Beldt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Harry Rust and sister in law Frances Rust. A funeral service will be held Monday, 1:00 P.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Rev. John Wesley Lee, pastor of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, 11:00 A.M. until time of service at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport. Memorial have been established for Faith United Methodist Church and Alzheimer'™s Research.
