George D. Chester

George Dean Chester, 79, of Forreston, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Stephenson Nursing Center, Freeport. Born October 25, 1937 in Prentice, Wisconsin, the son of Edward and Erma (Hunziker) Chester, he graduated from Aurora College in 1960 and Married Laurel Hoch of Aurora that same year. He began his career working in his father's bookkeeping business, which led to a lifelong career in accounting. George enjoyed woodworking, photography, gardening, and taking his children camping and fishing. He also enjoyed hymns and classical music. George loved the Lord. He was passionate about reading and studying the scriptures. George was a prayerful supporter of others, and had a heart for missionaries serving abroad. George is survived by his children, Jan Chester of Isabella, Missouri, Randy (Brenda) Chester of Waterman, Chuck (Robin) Chester of Genoa, and Jim (Lisa) Chester of St. Joseph, Michigan; grandchildren, Jessica (Josh) Wilkin, Kathleen (Josh) Feith, Garrett, Alaina, Lauren, Emma, Jacob, Daniel and Samuel Chester; his brother Donavan (Judy) Chester of Aurora and sister Marsha (Richard) Doemland of Jackson, Michigan and his nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents and his children's mother, Laurie Chester. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Shannon Baptist Church, Shannon. Pastor Tim Lehman will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral at Cranes Grove Cemetery in Baileyville.
