Genevieve Potter

Genevieve "Gen"Potter, 89, of Freeport, died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Stephenson Nursing Center. Genevieve was born on September 15, 1924 in Freeport, the daughter of George and Hazel (Kosier) Thompson. On August 1, 1958, Genevieve married Fay Potter in Freeport. Mr. Potter passed away on April 24, 1995. She was a 27 year employee of Micro Switch. Surviving are son, Dennis Potter of Rockford; one daughter, Deborah (Randy) Krahmer of Freeport. Four brothers, Donald (Betty) Thompson, Calvin (Barb) Thompson, Preston (Nancy) Thompson and Richard (Mary) Thompson. Also surviving are grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Bertram, Randy (Holly) Krahmer II, Kevin (Amanda Muller) Krahmer and Michelle (Korbin Hall) Krahmer; great-grandchildren, Madison and Hannah Bertram, Noah Hall and Mason Krahmer. Mrs. Potter was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Minister Nate Luy will officiate.There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her name.
