Geneva Love was born on March 11, 1942 in West Mississippi. She was married to the late Urilt Horton and from that union four daughters were born. On August 30, 1975, Geneva married the late Willie James Love and from this union Geneva gained a son. Geneva and Willie were married for 22 years until he departed this life on May 1, 1997 Geneva was a lifetime member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. At the onset of her membership, she joined the choir, later becoming a member of the Missionary Department. She also hosted weekly bible study in her home alongside her fellow sisters in Christ at St. Paul. She was faithful in attending Sunday school, prayer meetings and bible study. Geneva loved the Lord, and welcomed every opportunity to serve God holistically. The bible says in 2Corinthians 7 (b) 'for God loveth a cheerful giver' and a cheerful giver Geneva was. She was often complimented about her smile which brought warmth and joy to many. Geneva took a quiet and humble satisfaction in helping those less fortunate than herself. She was an outstanding mother who knew how to balance wisdom with kindness whether giving instruction to her children, grandchildren, or a helping hand to her husband. She was employed at Micro Switch and famously known as the friendliest 'lunchroom lady' at Center Elementary School where she was loved by many. Geneva was a very loving, caring, and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, aunt, and friend to many. She was embraced into the loving arms of our Savior on April 21, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory; Mary (Rupert) Valentine, Sr., Carmen (Quincy) Carter, Sr., Delores Horton-Johnson, Denise (Kelvin) McIlwain, and Joseph (Ionia) Dunson all of Freeport. Geneva has 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and several special friends; Cynthia Carter, Berry and Mamie Shipp, Daisy Pearson and Carol Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter; Patricia Horton; two sisters; Ethel Hodges and Mary Hudson, six brothers; James, Albert, Rueben, Otha, Clarence and Willie, and two special friends; Rosemary Hodges and Marian Bretchel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday April 26, 2013 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until the time of service at the church.
