Gary L. Flickinger

Gary L. Flickinger, 75, of Freeport, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, after a short illness. He was born on May 4, 1940 in Freeport, the son of Robert E. and Dorothy M. (Runte) Flickinger. Gary worked for Chrysler for 31 years, retired in 1996. He married Joan Wuthrich on February 13, 1960. Gary was a 1958 Forreston High School graduate and played basketball and baseball. Gary enjoyed golfing, fishing, wintering in Arizona and spending time with friends in Yuma, Arizona. He also loved camping with his wife, children and later his grandchildren. His memberships included National guard service for six years, Moose, Eagles and American Legion. Survivors include his wife Joan of Byron; one son Kevin (Pam) Flickinger; one daughter Debbie (Mike) Stamm and three grandchildren, Michael, Amanda and Matthew. Preceded in death by his parents.
