Gary D. Eichmeier, 74, died in his home Saturday in Pearl City. Gary was born December 13, 1936 in Freeport the son of Glen E. and Betty J. (Fox) Eichmeier. Gary served for the United States Army from 1956-1958. After knowing each other for only 3 months Gary married Marcia J. Haeft in Freeport on December 22, 1958. He worked at the Eagles Grocery Store for 40 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, a member of the former Germania Club. He enjoyed fishing, dogs, the America West and he loved to paint landscaping pictures. He is survived by his wife Marcia of Pearl City, one brother Gene (Cindy) Eichmeier of Freeport, two nieces; Rebecca (Bryan) Best and Erin (Josh) Hill of Freeport. Also surviving are 7 great nieces and nephews; Devin Best, Sierra Best, Landon Best, Ella Best, Cain Hill, Ethan Hill and Brynleigh Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Precht officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs.
