Gary D. Auman

Gary D. Auman, 71, of Freeport, died Wednesday November 5, 2014 in his home. Gary was born on June 16, 1943, in Savanna, IL. the son of Dean and Margaret (Backenkeller) Auman. Gary married B. Eileen Moore on June 27, 1964 in Shullsburg, Wisconsin. Mrs. Auman passed away on January 31, 2004. Gary was a 1961 graduate of Warren High School. He worked at Micro Switch for over 40 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on several Church committees over the years. He was also a member of Eagles Club Lodge #617. Gary is survived by his parents, Dean and Margaret Auman of Freeport; daughter, Cindy (Greg) Bessert of Freeport; son, Tim (Margie) Auman of Rockford; grandchildren, Joshua Bessert of Cedarville, Amanda (Nathan) Murdent of Rockford, Justus and Morgan Auman of Rockford; sister, Ginger (Dale) Rowe of Freeport, two sister-in-law's, Joanne (Bill) Schlabach of Canton, Michigan and Janet (Keith) Wymore of Shullsburg, WI. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and special friend and fianc, Sherry Cancelose. Gary was preceded in death by his wife. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Calvin Haines will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for Heartland Hospice in Gary's memory.
