Galen K. Russell

Galen Keith Russell, 70, of Forreston, IL passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the University of Wisconsin hospital. Galen was born in Dixon on June 25, 1951 to Glen Russell & Velma Ludwig. Galen graduated from Forreston High School and Highland Community College. Galen was a member of the Freeport Eagles Club #679. He was a firearm enthusiast and a member of the National Rifle Association. He farmed for several years in the Forreston community and was a lifelong business owner, most recently of Midwest Heavy Truck Repair until his retirement in 2018. Galen is survived by his children Steve (Cara) Hoffman, Becky (Aaron) Coon and Julie (Travis) Howarth; friend Patty Page; brother Alan Ranz; aunt Vera Johnson; and six grandchildren Reese Coon, Peyton Carpenter, Kerigen Hoffman, Ryan Coon, Zayne Hoffman and Alayna Howarth. Preceding Galen in death are his parents, step-father Robert Sheaffer, aunt Mildred Russman, uncle Marvin Russman, cousin Donna Bennett and sister-in-law Judi Ranz. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 19, 2022 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. Visitation 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Wednesday May 18, 2022 also at Burke Tubbs, Forreston. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery. A memorial has been establish in Mr. Russell's memory.
