Gale "Suzette" (Gage) Dumars, went to her eternal home of rest at the age of 65 on Monday, May 30, 2022. Suzette was born on March 25, 1957, in Quitman, MS. She is the daughter of Willie Sr. and Loretta (McGee) Gage. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1975. Following graduation, she attended Northern IL University and Southern University an HBCU in Baton Rouge, La. She worked at Northwestern Telephone Company in Freeport, IL, she then moved to California, and later transferred to Verizon in Texas. While in Texas Suzette was united in holy matrimony to Mark Elliott Dumars (brother of Detroit Pistons Joe Dumars NBA player) on June 3, 1994, in Irvin, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age, and was a faithful member of The First Church of God, in Freeport, IL; Where she was choir director of the "Majestic Choir". Suzette helped her Mother's vision of beginning an annual McGee Family Reunion become a reality. Through her research and dedication, she composed a McGee Family Tree. Her devotion to God and her family gave her the most contentment, satisfaction, and fulfillment. She enjoyed spa days with her oldest granddaughter Mia. Her love for her son and grandchildren was immeasurable. Suzette was the President of the "Official" Jackson 5 Five Fan Club for many years. This resulted in her working for Joe Jackson as his secretary in Los Angeles, California. During this time she met the Jackson 5 and spent time with them on many occasions. Her love for the Jackson 5 was well known by all who knew her. She is predeceased by her husband, Mark, her parents Willie Sr. and Loretta Gage, special aunt and uncle; Broomsy and Christine Salter, and brother Willie Gage Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving son, Courtney "CJ" Alexander, and three grandchildren; Mia Alexander, Jordan Alexander, and Gia Alexander, five brothers, Danny (Lilly) Nicholson; Ronald Gage; Dwayne (Pamela) Gage; Tracy (Regina) Simmons-Gage; Alan (Sherika) Gage; two sisters, Cheryl (Ricky) Erving; and Antoinette Gage, a special friend LaTanya Williams, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm at First Church of God (484 South Ottawa Freeport, IL) on June 11, 2022. Visitation 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
