Gale L. Frank

Gale L. Frank, 76, of Forreston, passed away on February 19, 2023 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Gale was born on May 11, 1946 in Sterling, IL the son of Wilfred and Ethelyn (Schoonhoven) Frank. He married Kathleen "Kathy" Halfman on June 15, 1968 at St. Wendelin in Shannon, IL. Gale worked in the Paint Department at Montgomery Ward and then maintenance for the City of Forreston. He was an avid sports fan having played baseball, basketball, football and track in High School. Gale enjoyed watching and cheering for the Forreston Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Most of all Gale loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gale is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy Frank of Forreston; two children, Christine Withington and Jeffrey (Kim) Frank; both of Freeport; three grandchildren, Kiley, Brady (fianc Erica), Bailey (fianc Nicole); two great grandchildren, Luna and Hayden; and one brother, Chuck (Margie) Kochsmier of Forreston. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Ann Kochsmier and two brothers, Daniel Kochsmier and Gary Philhower. Memorial Services will be held 11:00am on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church, 402 South Second Avenue, Forreston, IL 61030 with Reverend Scott Ralston, officiating. Private burial of cremated remains will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church or Forreston School Athletics.
