Gale E. Kilker

Gale E. Kilker, 87, of Shannon, died Wednesday April 18, 2012 in his home. Gale was born on June 14, 1924 in Stephenson County, the son of Edwin H. and Minnie E. (Reints) Kilker. Gale married Doris Koning on January 23, 1949 in Forreston. Doris died on June 28, 2011. Mr. Kilker worked on the family farm in rural Shannon for his entire life. Gale was a member of Shannon Baptist Church. Survivors include; three daughters; Rita (Larry) Swanson of Shannon , Renee Kilker of Shannon and Rhonda Kilker (Joe Kaelin) of Shannon, three grandchildren Jennifer (Mark) Bennett of Mt. Carroll, Matthew Sweitzer of Lanark and Lauren Swanson of Shannon, two great granddaughters; Kayla and Kalli Wilson of Mt. Carroll and two step grandchildren; Jennifer (Casey Hines) and Amanda Bennett. Also surviving are brother in law; Larry (Ramona) Koning of Lanark and two sisters-in-law; Darlene (Tom) Furst of Rockford and Carol Hagemann of Mount Morris. Gale was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 21, 2012 at the Shannon Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Lehman officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Church. A memorial fund has been established in Gale'™s memory. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
