Fred Mazique was born on May 2, 1943 in Freeport, IL to the union of Willie and Daisy Mazique. Fred was educated in the Freeport School system and was baptized as a child. He was a long time employee of the Boeing Airplane Company and served as a faithful usher board member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptists Church in Seattle, WA before retiring and relocating to Virginia Beach, VA. Fred is survived by four brothers, Roosevelt (Essie), James (Renae) (both of Freeport, IL,), Curtis (Rockford, IL), Charles (Seattle, WA), two sisters, Alberta and Daisy (both of Seattle, WA); 13 children: Kevin & Surrette, (Virginia Beach, VA), Raymond, Carla, Marvin (all of Freeport, IL), Fredvonna, Fredkeshia, Tyshun, Tekela (all of Seattle, WA), Ira (Raleigh, NC) Kimberly, Sherri & Chico (all of Atlanta, GA); 11 grandchildren and long-time friends Sandra Wilson (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and Wayne Cheatham (Seattle, WA). Fred had special relationships with four of his many nieces: Johvanna Stansberry and Trina Lewis (both of Seattle, WA), Deidre Ceasar (Lake Charles, LA) and Patricia Dale (Chicago, IL) who loved him dearly, and numerous other relatives and friends. Fred was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Willie Lee and Lee Andrew, and one sister, Lola Mae. Fred will be remembered for his infectious smile, zest for life, and love for God, family, and friends and he could always make you laugh! He was well known and loved by many people. Fred Mazique, 69, formerly of Freeport, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Sentra Hospital in Norfolk, VA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday 2 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
