Frank Holland

Frank A. Holland, 88, of Eleroy, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at his home. He was born August 11, 1922 in Elizabeth, IL., the son of Herman Holland Sr. and Anna (Gruber) Holland. He attended Long Hollow Public School and Mt Morley School in Elizabeth. In June, 1941 he joined the U.S. Navy where he served five years on Submarine Duty. He was married to Betty Jean Dotzel. Frank worked in Freeport for 47 years at Inter City Box. He is survived by one daughter, Penny Lancaster of Rockford; three sons, Ron of Monterey, KY., Larry of Eleroy and Rex of Freeport; one brother, Bill Holland of Stockton and two sisters, Marie Kempert of Galena and Susan Vandervate of Hanover; also several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Denny; one granddaughter, two sisters, and four brothers. A funeral service will be held Saturday, 10:30 A.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. A gathering and visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of service Saturday in Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
