Frank Andrew Cannova, 90, of Freeport died Friday in his home. Frank was born August 28, 1921 in Freeport the son of Antonio D. and Philippine(Griffo) Cannova. Frank married Martha E. Rotello in 1948 at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Freeport. Martha died May 27, 2011. Mr. Cannova owned and operated Cannova'™s Pizza from 1948-1984. The restaurant now has locations in Freeport, Galena and Neenah, Wisconsin. Frank fought for his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre from 1942-1946, proudly serving in the United States navy onboard the USS Waller, DD/DDE. Frank was a member of Saint Thomas Catholic Church, Freeport. He was a member of the VFW, Former Germania Club, Eagles Club, Italian Men'™s Club and Sacred Heart Society. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, dancing , playing cards, singing Italian songs and the usual witty banter with his wife. His memory will live through his family, the restaurant he dedicated his life to, and all those whom have ever enjoyed being at Cannova'™s Frank is survived by two sons, Anthony Cannova of Denver, Co. and Andrew Cannova of Freeport; two daughters, Linda ( Patrick) Beckman of Freeport and Debbie (Kyle) Rasmus of Neenah, Wisconsin. His grandchildren, Patrick(Melissa) Beckman, Michael Beckman, Chaz and Colt Cannova and Frankie Rasmus. Two sisters, Betty (Chuck) Luecke and Virginia ( James) Krogull. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Dr. Anthony Cannova and his sister Elizabeth. A funeral mass for Mr. Cannova will be Tuesday, 11:00 A.M. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Freeport. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until time of mass at St. Thomas.
