Francis "Joe" Longmeyer Iii

Francis "Joe" Longmeyer III, 83, of Freeport, died April 12, 2022, at manor Court of Liberty Village. He was born August 10, 1938, the son of Francis J. Longmeyer II and Lucy Wood. Francis married Marilyn Mehl February 15, 1969, in Carrollton, IL. Francis served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961-64. He was the executive director of the Stephenson County Farm Service. He was the Rockbridge Township Advisor, past president of Illinois Association of County Employees, and Past Exalted-Ruler of Elks Lodge 617. Francis is survived by his wife Marilyn Longmeyer of Freeport, IL; son, Jon Robert Longmeyer of Louisville, KY; and brother, George Longmeyer of Schaumburg, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Lee Longmeyer and Margaret McCormick; and brother, John Longmeyer. A funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday April 22, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 P.M. Thursday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL, with an Elks Memorial service beginning at 7. Burial of cremains will be in Carrollton Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established for St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Freeport Elks Lodge 617 and Greenfield Public Library, 515 Chestnut Street Greenfield, IL 62044.
