Frances S. Zumdahl

Frances S. Zumdahl, 96, of Forreston died Sunday at Lena Living Center, Lena, Illinois. She was born January 22, 1915 in Upleward, Germany, the daughter of Zeede and Frances (Freerksen) Ruter. On December 29, 1949 she married Lester A. Zumdahl in Forreston, Illinois. He died January 29, 1993. Frances attended Shimer College in Mt. Carroll, Illinois and then taught at The Good School, a one room schoolhouse near Shannon. She later farmed with her husband in the Baileyville, area. She was a member of the Forreston Reformed Church, a member of the Women'™s Guild and involved in other activities at the church. Frances was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading to her grandchildren, traveling and gardening. Frances is survived by her two sons, Larry (Nancy) Zumdahl of Baileyville and Rev. Dr. Lyle (Amy) Zumdahl of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Two daughters, Linda (Doug) Zumdahl-Leek of Freeport and Nancy (Mark) Mills of Saint Louis, Mo. Eleven grandchildren; Greg (Whittney) Zumdahl, Doug (Brenda) Zumdahl, Matt (Jessica) Zumdahl, Tyler Zumdahl, Nicolle and Andrew Leek, Toby and Micah Mills, Laura Zumdahl, Benjamin (Jessica) Zumdahl and Leah (Grant) Mulder. Five great-grandchildren; Greyson, Garrick, Giana, Kaelyn and Riley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be Friday, 10:30 A.M. at Forreston Reformed Church. Rev. Dr. Lyle Zumdahl and Rev. Tim Fry will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, 4:00-7:00 P.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston and from 9:30 A.M. until time of service Friday at the church. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, Forreston. Memorial has been established for the Forreston Reformed Church and F.H.N. Hospice.
