Frances L. Ditsworth, 89, of Shannon, went home to be with the Lord she loved and served, Saturday at St. Joseph Village, Freeport. She was born April 2, 1932, In Livingston, Montana the daughter of Phillip and Clara Amon. After graduating from high school, she attended York College in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she met her husband and love of her life, Walter Ditsworth. They were married August 5, 1953, in Livingston, Montana. Mr. Ditsworth was a design engineer at Micro Switch for 30 years and a Navy Veteran. He died March 18, 1996, at age 69. Frances love to teach children. She taught second grade for 20 years at Empire School, Freeport. She also taught Sunday School and Bible School at her church. She and Walter were founding members of Shannon Baptist Church along with three other families and very dear friends Jan and Bill Stees, Eddie and Ione Ostergard and Sam and Mable Korf. This church has been greatly used and blessed of God for 60 years. Many have come to know her savior through its ministry. Mrs. Ditsworth was presently a member of Community Baptist Church, Milledgeville. Frances loved sewing, gardening, cooking, swimming, reading, and fishing in the North Woods with her husband and lifelong friends, Joyce and Art Dawson. Frances enjoyed visiting her sisters in law Edna and Bert Bearndt and Eva and Irving Bickel of Minnesota. She also liked keeping missionaries and revival speakers at her home. She resided in Shannon since 1987. Mrs. Ditsworth is survived by her daughter, Sheila (John) Pepper of Shannon and granddaughters: Janna Pepper of Freeport and Michelle Pepper of Shannon. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Amon. Funeral service for Mrs. Ditsworth will be Thursday, 1:00 P.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Ave. Freeport. Rev. Kregg Farmer, pastor of Community Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. A memorial has been established for Community Baptist Church.
