Floyd Reed Pearson

October 15, 1933 — January 23, 2017

Floyd Reed Pearson, born October 15, 1933 in Freeport, Illinois, left this world on January 23, 2017 in Inglewood, CA. Floyd grew up in Freeport and graduated from Freeport High School. After graduating, he proudly served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He also spent tours in Japan as well as tours in several states within the USA. After retiring from the USAF, Floyd was employed at Centinela Hospital in security for 30 plus years, where he was affectionately known as "King Floyd". He was married to his dearly beloved, Beatrice Helena (Dixon) Pearson, for 53 years, who preceded him in death on April 13, 2014. Also preceding him in death were his parents Reed and Myrtle (Austin) Pearson, his siblings William "Billy" (Vivian) Pearson, Cleora "Sister" (Otis) Kidd, John "Johnny" Pearson and Darlene Pearson. Surviving him are his brothers Ronald (Ilene) Pearson of Phoenix, Arizona, James Seals of Freeport, IL, and a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins in the US and Canada. Services will be held at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut, Freeport, IL, on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and funeral services at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at the side of his lovely wife Beatrice in the Freeport City Cemetery.
