Florence Fay Ruthe

Florence Ruthe, 89, of Freeport died peacefully Saturday, December 11th, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Born October 3rd, 1932 at the family home in Shannon, she was the daughter of Daniel and Vernie (Janssen) Buss. Their family of 11 lived in a 2 bedroom house - they shared very well! Florence married the love of her life Marvin Ruthe on December 21st, 1950, in Shannon Illinois. They planned to celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary together next week. Florence was a homemaker and had the most joy taking care of her 3 sons. After the boys went to school, Florence worked various jobs, including Garrity Drug, Montgomery Ward and selling Rawleigh products at home. Florence was then full time Bookkeeper at O'Mara Moving & Storage, which is where she retired from. The family loved their camping trips, exploring the outdoors and having fun together. Surviving is her husband Marv; her three beloved sons, Stephen Ruthe, David Ruthe & Dennis (Laurie) Ruthe; sister Betty Heilman; four grandchildren, Heather (Bryan) Schweigert, Nicholas Ruthe, Jen (Reid) Mazanek of Las Vegas NV, & Jordan Ruthe of Sterling VA; great grandchildren Brooks Mazanek, Christian (Kylah) Jacobs, Nathan (Sydney) Witt, Natanna Jacobs, Collin Ruthe, Brandon Ruthe; great-great grandchildren Kenadie, Spencer, EmmaLee, Nataley. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers. The family wishes to express their gratitude to granddaughter Heather for taking such wonderful, loving care of grandma in her final days. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 15th, 2021 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral home in Freeport. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
