Fernando Cortez Johnson, 49, of Freeport, IL passed away January 26, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 4, 1972 in Chicago, IL to Fern Diana Johnson. Fernando married Denise Bruce on November 10, 2012. He was a machine operator for Ultrasonic Tech. Fernando loved wrestling, working, and being their for his family in whatever was possible. He was the life of his family and could light up any room he stepped in. Fernando will be forever known as a great father, amazing husband, wonderful papaw and loyal friend, brother and uncle.He is survived by his wife Denise Johnson; daughter Phylishia Joseph; son Fernando Johnson Jr.; brothers Richard Johnson and Michael Johnson; son-in-law Ruben Joseph; sisters Florine Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson; sister-in-law Davina Johnson; uncle Michael Johnson; and grandchildren Raelyn Joseph and Jaidior Johnson.Preceding Fernando in death is his mother Fern Diana Johnson, grandmother Rosie Lee Johnson and father-in-law Dennis Bruce.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 5, 2022 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (607 E Stephenson Street #641 Freeport, IL 61032) with Pastor Antwon Funchess, Sr. officiating.
