Fern L Mann

Fern L. Mann, 89, of Freeport, died Sunday July 13, 2014 at her home. She was born January 6, 1925 in Stephenson County, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Carrie (Kluck) Schulz. She married Donald Van Raalte. Fern and Donald farmed for many years. She married Harold Mann. Fern worked for Newell for 25 years during that time. She enjoyed gardening and reading. Fern is survived by her two sons Donald Van Raalte of Tolleson, AZ, and Dean (Ginny) Van Raalte of Lockwood, MO; two daughters Beverly (Everett) Book and Linda (David) Book all of Pecatonica, IL; two sisters Naomi Russ of Lena, IL and Evelyn Huett of Freeport, IL; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers Royce, Kenneth, and Lyle; two sisters Luella Phillip and Marjorie Ferry; and her grandson Randy Book. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday July 19, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Rev. Tom Jacoby will officiate. Visitation will held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her memory.
