Fay Anderson

Fay LaVerne Anderson, 93 a former Freeport resident, died May 6, 2015 in Redondo Beach, California. She was born on August 5, 1921 in Superior, WI into a family of 6 brothers and sisters, Volmur, Runar, Martha, Lillian, Helen and Betty, all of whom are presently deceased. Father Emil Anderson and mother Amanda Anderson resided in Superior WI and both passed away at an early age. Survivors include her daughter Christine Anderson Shoukri, son-in-law Turhan (Azzy) Shoukri who both reside in a Redondo Beach, California, and her only grandson Matthew Alro Radtke who is located in Auburn California. Fay attended University of Wisconsin, but developed tuberculosis, spending 2 years in a sanitarium. She recovered at the end of WWII, and married her sweetheart Arlo Jon Anderson on October 5, 1946. They remained married till Arlo's passing in 1990. She never remarried. Fay moved to Rockford, IL when Arlo was transferred to another health department and then to Freeport where she continued her career employment as a social security administration specialist until retirement. She resided in Parkview Senior Living for several years, but upon her illness she moved to California to be with her daughter for her remaining years. Fay was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, volunteer at Freeport Library, and a member of Board of Directors at Meadow Ridge Apartments. Fay was always up to join others for a musical, a play, card clubs, book clubs, and even playing golf till she was 85. Fay was loved by all and will be missed very much. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Tuesday June 16, 2015 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Luepke officiating. Burial of cremains will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held at the church following the burial. Her daughter, Christine, asks that any attendees bring a photo of Fay they would like to post during the service or following reception.
