Evelyn Helena Roethlisberger

Evelyn Helena Roethlisberger, 81, of Freeport, IL died Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. She was born July 14, 1940 in Darlington, WI, the daughter of Emery and Rosella (Kisting) Hoeper. Evelyn married Ronald Roethlisberger on February 7, 1959 at Holy Rosary Church in Darlington, WI. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2016. Evelyn was a nurse for 48 years, most recently at the Lena Living Center. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking special birthday dinners, canning, and making Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. Evelyn is survived by her children Victor (Penny Kennedy) Roethlisberger of Freeport, IL, Nicholas Roethlisberger of Aurora, IL, Vicky Dose of Monroe, WI, Monica (Kevin) Howland of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy "Kate" (Bill) Boekholder of Freeport, IL, Heidi (John) Seger of St. Augustine, FL; brother Irvin (Mary) Hoeper of Melbourne, FL; sisters Mary Winslow of Darlington, WI and Delores Burmeister of Clarence, MO; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald, parents, one sister, and two brothers. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday February 4, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Father Peter Snieg will officiate. Visitation 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Freeport City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's hospital in memory of Evelyn.
