Evelyn F. Bruce

Evelyn Frances Bruce, 88, of Freeport died Monday, August 15 in Presence Saint Joseph Center. She was born January 28, 1928 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Joseph and Lucean (Gossett) McNair. She married Frederick Bruce, Sr. He died January 21, 1979. Mrs. Bruce was employed at Micro-Switch Honeywell for 17 years. Mrs. Bruce accepted Christ at the age of 9. She attended Freeport Schools. Mrs. Bruce was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church of Freeport. She later attended True Vine Worship Center of Freeport. Mrs. Bruce enjoyed reading, traveling and watching westerns. Surviving are three sons, Fred Bruce Jr. of Freeport, Darrell (Karen) Bruce of Virginia and Brian (Monica) Bruce of Freeport; four daughters, Valerie (Clifton) Hale of Freeport, Evelyn Curry of Freeport, Phyliss (William) Scarborough of Garner, N.C., Carol Gage of Denver, CO, and also Joyce Newsome of Lancaster, CA.; two brothers, Louis McNair and Johnny McNair both of Racine, WI; and four sisters, Lucean (John) Brumfield of Freeport, Catherine (Carl) Cain of Columbus, OH, Ella Edison of Freeport and Marlene Kuykendall of Freeport. Also surviving are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday August 20, 2016 at Faith Center (Freeport) Church.
