Mother Ernestine L. Brumfield transitioned this earthly life to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 5, 2020. She was born on June 7, 1931 to Lee J. and Irene (Cook) McDonald in Deer Park, AL. In the mid 1940's, the McDonald family moved to Freeport, IL., where she attended Freeport High School. Deeply committed to their faith, the church was very important to her parents and it was often said that when the church doors were open, the family was there. Even in her youth, Mother was an avid student of God's Word. Her walk with God was not just talked about - she lived it. Gifted with a beautiful voice, Mother used her talent in the choir. As word spread about her spiritual gifting, she was in great demand as a vocalist in Freeport and Chicago. Not only blessed with musical talent, she was a visionary who had the ability to see the potential in others and help cultivate their talents in areas where they could be of service to the Kingdom of God. She was also a licensed Evangelist with the Church of God in Christ denomination. Upon her retirement from Micro Switch, she worked as a CNA at both Stephenson Nursing Center and Presence-St. Joseph.
