Elwood Wunsch

Elwood Wunsch, 91, of Freeport, died September 15, 2013 at Presence St. Joseph Center. Mr. Wunsch was a graduate of Freeport High School and Wheaton College. After teaching in the Orangeville school district his first year, he moved to the Freeport School District where he spent the rest of his career as a math teacher at Freeport Junior High School and Carl Sandburg Middle School. Elwood was an avid fisherman -- both during summer and winter months. He was active in the community -- particularly at Zion Church over the years. A memorial service will be held Friday September 27th at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate his life. There will be a visitation before the service starting at noon.
