Elton Albert Hartman

Elton Albert Hartman, 86, of Freeport, passed away, March 31, 2020 at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, Illinois. Elton was born March 7, 1934 in Freeport, the son of George and Edna (Funk) Hartman. Elton proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Elton married Fay Mellen. He farmed in Stephenson County for many years. Elton was a member of the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club. Surviving are his wife, Fay Hartman of Freeport; three sons, Jeffrey Hartman, Gerald (Connie) Hartman, and Gary Hartman all of Freeport; brother, George Hartman; two sisters, Sylvia "Darlene" Torine and Mary Ellen Coates. Also surviving are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Elton was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Richard Hartman. Private family services will be held on Saturday April 4, 2020. Rev. Gavin Brandt will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his memory.
