Elmer F. Lubenow, 84, of Freeport, and formerly of Red Oak, went to his eternal home on Wednesday May 2, 2012 to join his beloved wife Elmira. Elmer was born on October 4 1927 in Ceylon, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Wilken) Lubenow. Elmer was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed farming, fishing, being a seed corn dealer and riding his most cherished 4-wheeler. Elmer was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Elmer is survived by four daughters Liane (Mike) Curry of Aurora, Bonnie (Dennis) Piefer of Freeport, Gayle Lubenow of Freeport and Karen Strode of Houston, Texas, two sisters; Bernice Weck of Lemont, IL and Marilyn Rossman of Wisconsin, grandchildren; Tom, Joe and Bill Curry, Marci Sullivan, Eric and Tyler Wellman, Andrew and Nikki Piefer, Sarah Piefer, Brett Piefer, Jenny Nelson, Marlin and Marissa Jordon and Allan and Nick Strode. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife; Elmira, brother; Robert Lubenow, sisters; Irene Kastning, Eliane Bolte and Lucille Godin, and a great granddaughter; Madison Curry. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday May 8, 2012 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Stephen Precht officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday May 7, 2012 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at Our Redeemer on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery.
