Ella H. Shippee

Ella H. Shippee, 82, of Davis, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Median Nursing Center in Durand after a long illness. Ella was born on December 17, 1929 in Shannon, IL. to Henry and Henrietta Trampel. She was a graduate of Rockford Beauty School. She also received a Certified Nurses Aid Certificate from St. Francis Hospital in Freeport. She worked in food service for the Freeport School District for several years. Ella married Alfred Kreder in June of 1949. They farmed in the Shannon and Davis areas until 1964. Ella married Darrell Shippee in August of 1980. He died on March 16, 2003. She was a member of the Florence United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, and gardening. She spent winter seasons in Arizona where she enjoyed picnics in the desert. She is survived by two children, Virgil (Dorothy) Kreder of Port Washington, WI and Shirley (Terrence) Dodds of Davis; three grandchildren, Suzanne (Dr. Shane PHD) Grivna of Rochester, MN Cathryn (Major Craig USMC) Harvey of Oceanside, CA and Christine Kreder of Los Angeles, CA; three step grandchildren Rachel Dodds of Blythville, AR., Dan Dodds of Rockford and Mike (Nicole) Dodds of Rockford and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Herman Trampel and husband. Funeral services will be Friday, May 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
