Elizabeth Rachel Linnie "Betsy" Ludewig

January 22, 1986 — August 21, 2024

Elizabeth “Betsy” Rachel Linnie Ludewig was born January 22, 1986 to parents Patricia (Nott) and David Ludewig. Betsy was the third child of four to be blessed to Patricia and David. Betsy grew up in Florence Station/Freeport, IL and attended Freeport High School where she was an active member of the swim team and softball team earning MVP for the 2004 softball season. Betsy graduated from Freeport High School in 2004. In the summer of 2004 Betsy began to work for the Masonic Children’s Dyslexia Center assisting her mother Patricia with the Center’s creation and official opening in 2004.

Following high school Betsy attended Highland Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in 2006. She then transferred to Illinois State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History in 2008.

After college Betsy worked for Porterhouse Equipment and Rental of Freeport, IL for several years. Betsy began employment at Colony Brands, Inc. of Monroe, WI where she worked from 2012-2022 as a Merchandise Buyer. In 2018 Betsy moved to Monroe, WI where she purchased her first house and made a home for herself and her Black and Tan Coonhound, Norma Jean.

Betsy, known as “Toots” by her close friends and family, was an integral source of strength, energy, and laughter to those around her. She maintained strong ties to her childhood friends and created many new friendships with her move to Monroe, WI. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her two nephews who knew her as “Aunt Toody.” Betsy bought a Moped in 2020 and was often seen in Monroe enjoying daily rides in the summers the past several years.

In 2022 Betsy met the love of her life Adam Bansley. She enjoyed supporting Adam during his band gigs, theater shows and comedy specials. Betsy and Adam discovered quickly that they were great travel partners and enjoyed many trips and weekend getaways together.

Betsy is survived by her partner Adam Bansley, her mother Patricia (Dennis) Ludewig-Myers, her brothers David and Daniel Ludewig, her sister Katherine (Josh) Berven, nephews Arjen and Alfred Berven, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father David Ludewig in 1990, her uncle Ron Ludewig, and her grandparents Alfred/Irma Ludewig and Ted/Hazel Nott.

Betsy’s family and Adam would like to send our gratitude and thanks to the family and friends who spent time in the form of trips, visits, thoughts, and prayers for Betsy during her health struggle. We were and still are in amazement at the number of people that supported Team Betsy during this journey.
