Eldora M. Sanders

Eldora M. Sanders, 93, of Freeport, died Monday March 6, 2017 at Parkview Home. Eldora was born October 3, 1923 to Frank and Elizabeth (Buske) Scheider on their family farm near Lena, Illinois. On November 7, 1942 she married John Sanders in the parsonage of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lena. Mr. Sanders passed away August 27, 2001. Eldora worked for Burgess Battery before having children, and later on for Economy Insurance. For over seventy years she was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Freeport. She was a member of the Miriam Society, the L.W.M.L. and the Altar Guild. Eldora was an avid bridge player. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings and their spouses, Ruth (Clarence) Kasch, Lois (Arthur) Biesemeier, Robert (Dorothy) Scheider, Francis Scheider, Elywn (Louetta) Scheider, Esther (Russell) Cox and one nephew, Robert Scheider; and brother-in-law, James Sanders. Surviving are her sons, Thomas (Cheryl), Timothy (Stacy), Michael (Teresa), Peter, and Philip (Wanda); her grandchildren, Mike Gass, Justin (Laura). Tristan, Steven Gass, Alan (Erin), Elizabeth (Ted) Klees, Antonio, Rebecca (Adam) Moline, Angela, Katherine (fiance, Brian Volkenant), Jarel, Felicia, Ian; great-grandchildren, Hallie Riley, Brayden Gass, Angel Munos, Schuyler McGowan, Mali McGowan, Mya, Sadie, Baron, Bastian, Ezra Moline, Ellowyn Klees, her sister-in-law Joan Sanders and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday March 10, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Rev. Stephen Precht will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. There will also be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1320 S. Blackhawk Ave., Freeport, IL. 61032.
