Eileen Kerkhoff

Eileen J. Kerkhoff, 84, of Freeport died Saturday in F.H. N. Memorial Hospital, Freeport. She was born August 25, 1926 in Freeport, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Neumann) Nampel. On August 22, 1946 she married Fred Kerkhoff in Freeport. Mrs. Kerkhoff farmed with her husband for 35 years in German Valley and Lena. She then worked for School District 145 at Carl Sandburg and Center Schools. She was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church of Lena and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Freeport. Mrs. Kerkhoff cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons; Ronald (Gale) Kerkhoff of German Valley and Rodger (Jana) Kerkhoff of Freeport. Her brother, William Nampel of Cedarville. Four grandchildren; Ryan Kerkhoff of Freeport, Kelli Kerkhoff of Rockford, Matthew (Laura) Kerkhoff of Freeport and Jacob Kerkhoff of German Valley. Also, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister-in law, Evelyn Nampel. Funeral service for Mrs. Kerkhoff will be Wednesday, 11:00 A.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Rev. Rick Bader, pastor of Saint John Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4:00-7:00 P.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport.
