Edwin "Ed" Lamoreux, 75, of Freeport, died Monday October 7, 2013 at FHN memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born on April 6, 1938 in Carroll County, IL, he was the son of Fay and Ruby (Beyer) Lamoreux. He married Kay Kloepping on January 16, 1960 in Nashua, IA. Edwin graduated from Lanark High School in 1956. He served in the National Guard. Edwin worked at Crestwood Gulf Station and then at Sears until he decided to become his own boss; at that time he opened Countryside Motors. After a few years he started a new venture and converted his garage into a bar called The Red Door operating from 1969-1977. From 1977-1979 Ed was employed at Ace Muffler. In 1979 he reopened the bar as the Ironwood Inn. In 1980 he established Water Care services in addition to the Ironwood Inn, which closed in 1985. He continued his business Water Care until his retirement. His biggest passion was riding motorcycles. He enjoyed his many cross country trips or just taking a daily trip with his riding buddies. Even as of just a week ago he rode over 300 miles In a single day. He also enjoyed mowing his lawn and tinkering around in his garage. His family was his pride and joy, and he became a big softie over the years for his grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife; Kay Lamoreux of Freeport, IL; his three daughters, Kimberlee (Kyle) Preston of Lake Mills, WI, Shelli (John) Giba of Aurora, IL, and Karla (Jim) Carr of Freeport, Il; his two brothers, Gary (Rita) Lamoreux and Dave (Marilyn) Lamoreux; his sisters, Carol (Hugh) Bolinsky and Patti Lamoreux; four grandchildren, Samantha (Mike) Cusimano, Ryan Gale, Seth Gale, and Jimmy Carr; and his two great-granddaughters, Kayleigh and Isabella Cusimano. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Dennis Lamoreux. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday October 12, 2013 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. There will be a private family funeral service held. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
