Edward L. Ludwig

Edward L. Ludwig, 96, of Forreston, died Thursday November 3, 2016 at Manor Court in Liberty Village, Freeport. Mr. Ludwig was born August 12, 1920 near Forreston, Illinois the son of Joe and Fannie (Kruse) Ludwig. Ed attended West Branch Country School and later graduated from Forreston High School. Ed was a proud United States Army veteran. He served with the 96th Infantry Division in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. Ed was a lifelong Forreston area farmer. Mr. Ludwig married Johanna Frei in 1947. She died in January of 1972. He later married Hortense "Pat" Faulkner Jenkins on March 10, 1973. She died December 9, 2013. Ed became a wonderful father to Linda Jenkins and Larry Jenkins. Ed was active member of Forreston Reformed Church. He served as an Elder and served on Consistory. He also was a member of The Ogle County Farm Bureau. Ed was very dedicated to his church, family, God and to his rural farm values. Mr. Ludwig is survived by his son Larry Jenkins, sisters-in-law, Priscilla Ludwig of Lanark and Marilyn Ludwig of Forreston. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Johanna, his second wife Pat, daughter, Linda and his brothers LeRoy and Herman. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 A.M. at Forreston Reformed Church. Ken Renkes will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. Visitation will also be from 9:30 A.M. until time of service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Haldane Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Forreston Reformed Church.
