Edward J. Weir

Edward J. Weir, 88, of Freeport, passed away, Sunday July 24, 2022, in his home. Edward was born January 16, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Edward and Irene (Epstein) Weir. Mr. Weir served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Kathleen Dubow May 26, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois. Edward was an Electro-Mechanical Engineer. He was a member of International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC). Surviving is wife, Kathleen "Kay" Weir; sons, Edward (Shirley) Weir and Keith (Joy) Weir; daughters, Moira (Kim) Palmer; brother Robert (Marie) Weir, Barry (Regina) Weir and James Weir; also surviving are ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eleanor; brother-in-law, Al "Boots" Sismour; sons, Chet M. Weir; father and mother-in-law, Alex and Helen Dubow; brother-in-law, Edward Dubow; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Dubow. Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (Elwood, IL) . A memorial has been established in Mr. Weir's memory.
