Edward Arthur Bald, 86, of Freeport, died Thursday October 13, 2011 in his home. He was born July 20, 1925 in Freeport, IL, the son of Clarence and Vera (Horney) Bald. Edward married Elizabeth Jane Kilbridge at St. Mary'™s Church on October 11, 1947; Eilzabeth passed away on December 27, 1994. Edward worked at Micro Switch as a Mechanical Design Engineer for 39 years before retiring. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in which his activities included ushering, sacristan and member of the collection team; played in the Micro Switch Golf League and after retirement the Senior Golf League; volunteered for meals on wheels, Adult Day Care, and at the Provena Nursing Home. Ed was interested in all kinds of sports and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sport activities. Edward is survived by his four sons James (Jan) Bald and Michael (Joan) Bald both of Freeport, Thomas (Noemi) Bald of Harlingen, TX, and Timothy (Dana) Bald of DePere, WI; two daughters Mary Beth (Mark) Sadowsky and Margaret (Clark) Taylor both of Ludlow, MA; one brother Donald (Martha) Bald; his grandchildren Emily Taylor, Ben (Ashley) Taylor, Jennifer Bald, Julia (Bardia) Sadowsky, Craig Bald, Joey Bald, Chad Bald, Elizabeth Bald, Samuel Bald, Danielle Bald, Matthew Bald, Ryan Bald, Margaret Bald, Kathleen Bald, and Jake (Gina) Lear-Sadowsky; two great grandchildren Luke and Livia Lear-Sadowsky; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his brother Richard. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Msgr. P. William McDonnell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 3:00 '" 7:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home with a scripture service beginning at 3:00 P.M. There will also be a visitation Friday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at St. Thomas. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
