Edna E. Viel, 95, of Freeport passed away Friday March 17, 2017 at Pearl Pavilion. She was born December 10, 1921 in Orangeville IL to Ammon and Sarah (Stamm) Moyer. Edna Paul Welt. She later married George Viel on August 31, 1974. George died January 11, 1976. Mrs. Viel worked at the Newell Company for 25 years. She was a member of First united Methodist Church in Freeport. Edna also was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and Eagles Aux. Surviving are her four sons, Lonnie (Mary) Welt of Seattle, WA, Michael (Rhonda) Welt of Mesa, AZ, James (Pamela) Welt of Freeport and Paul (Sharon) Welt of Cedarville, IL; brother, Charles (Bernice) Moyer of Grantsburg, WI; sister, Alice Weaver of Freeport; sister-in-law, Fern Moyer; and 17 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and four sisters. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday March 22, 2017 at Rock Lily Cemetery in Winslow. A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Tuesday March 21, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. A memorial has been established in her memory.
