Eddie Veasley

Eddie Lee Veasley, 59, of Freeport passed away Tuesday Aug 16, 2016 peacefully in his home. Eddie was born on November 19, 1956 in Kosciucko, MS, the son of Clyde and Lottie Mae (Teague) Veasley. He was well-known for wrestling and football and making it to All-Conference. Graduating from Freeport Senior High School in 1974 Eddie worked for many years in construction that contributed to many buildings in the Freeport area today. He was also an avid fisherman, and it was one of his greatest joys in life. Eddie attended Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport. Surviving are Eddie's daughters Shanetta Shird of Lilburn, GA, Kelly (Robert) Ross of Kenosha, WI and Jasmine Veasley of Freeport. He had seven grandchildren, Khalia Williams, Zachaeus Ross, Messiah Wright, Kyier Ross, Aydric Veasley, Jewan Shird and Jamarie Shird. He is also survived by his sister Clydie (Sammie) Hughes of Freeport and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lottie Mae (Teague) Veasley; brothers, Willie James Veasley and John Veasley; and two sisters Sara Brown and Annie Ruth Veasley, who passed away at an early age. Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday August 26, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with a visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
