Earl M. Hayunga

Earl M. Hayunga, 88, of German Valley, died Sunday September 28, 2014 at Manor Court of Liberty Village. He was born May 16, 1926 in Freeport, IL, the son of Katherine Hayunga. He married Mary Koning June 23, 1991 at North Grove Church. Earl was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean conflict. He worked at Kelly Springfield for 21 years retiring 1991. He was a member of German Valley United Methodist Church. He was the first scout master of German Valley Boy Scout Troop 30, a charter member of the German Valley Lions Club, and volunteered for the German Valley Fire Department for twelve years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Earl is survived by his wife of sixty years Mary Hayunga of German Valley; two sons Duane (Susan) Hayunga of Lincolnton, GA and Stanley Hayunga of German Valley; two grandchildren Jerry (Kaycie) Wells and Dustin Wells both of McCormick, SC; his great-granddaughter Cynthia Wells of McCormick, SC; his sister-in-law Ann Runkle of Freeport, IL; his niece Cherie (Jeff) Ellis of Free Market, VI; and his nephew Thomas Runkle of Philadelphia, PA. Earl was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday October 3, 2014 at German Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Mathew Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Silver Creek Reformed Cemetery.
