Duane "Dewey" Snyder

Duane (Dewey) Snyder, 83, formerly of Freeport, passed away Sunday September 6, 2020 in South Carolina. Dewey was born October 25, 1936 in Freeport, the son of Robert and Ora Mae (Kunkle) Snyder. He married Collen Heitter September 14, 1958 in Freeport. Colleen passed away May 29, 2016. Dewey proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as mail carrier for the United States Postal System for many years. He was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, Freeport Eagles Club and Highland College Athletic Booster Club. He was on the Freeport Park Board for 8 years. He Volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Dewey was an avid LA Dodgers fan, for his 80th birthday his family took him to LA to tour the stadium and see a game. He was a lifelong golfer and very proud of his three hole-in-ones. Dewey enjoyed spending his retirement time with his family and attending his grandchildren's school and athletic events, and many memories were made on the annual WI Dells trips with the entire family. Dewey is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, Jerry and Ron. Dewey is survived by his children, Peggy (Jeff) Hass and Sherri (Steve) Jasinski; grandchildren, Megan (Travis) Wilson, Micah (Courtney) Wilson, Jordan (Monica) Wilson, Brittany (Jason) Zimmerman, Austin (Erica) Wilson, Kelsey Jasinski, Hannah Jasinski, and Zachary Jasinski; 13 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Carol Snyder; brother-in-law, Leon (Carol) Heitter; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday September 12, 2020 at Park Hills Evangelical Church. Visitation 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
