Duane Audrey Fitzpatrick

Duane Audrey (Wilmarth) Fitzpatrick, 92, of Freeport, IL passed away Wednesday March 9, 2022 at Manor Court of Liberty Village. She was born March 18, 1929 in Galena, IL, the daughter of Clarence "Jim" and Evelyn (Hansing) Wilmarth. Duane married Eugene Barthel in 1947; she then married Franklin ‘Fitz" Fitzpatrick in 1982; he passed away September 8, 2007. Duane graduated from Galena High School, and then attended Highland Community College. She was a Teachers Aide for Freeport School District 145, first at Empire School and then at Center School. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, The Children's Home and Aid Society, Freeport Art Museum, and The Winneshiek Theatre. Duane and Fitz enjoyed traveling and living in Fort Myers, FL during the winters. Duane (Daney) was a wonderful and gracious hostess and made every holiday special for her family. Duane is survived by her three daughters, Diane (Wayne) Conroy, Cheri (Greg) Haack, and Lynn (George) Davis all of Freeport, IL; sister, Phyllis Lininger of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Donna Wilmarth of Galena, IL; grandchildren, Krista (Bill Grosshans) Ginger of Galena, IL, Katie (Jon) Lohman of San Jose, CA; Sarah (Ben) Marten and Heather (Ryan) Becker all of Freeport, IL; great-grandchildren, Logan (Jolie) Cisewski, Nolan Clark all of Monroe, WI, Micah and Evelyn Lohman of San Jose, CA , Alexandra Grosshans of Galena, IL, Vivienne Marten, Cainan and Trysan Becker all of Freeport, IL; and nephew David Wilmarth of Galena, IL. Duane was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Fitzpatrick; brother, Bill Wilmarth; brother-in-law, Thomas Lininger; grandchildren, Carrie Bell-Clark and Andrea Bell; and great-grandson, Cline Becker. A memorial service will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday March 19, 2022 at Grace Episcopal Church. Visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church. A memorial has been established in Duane's memory.
