Dr. Herbert J. Partoll

Dr. Herbert J. Partoll , age 97, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023. He was born in Dresden, Germany on November 3, 1925 to Alfred and Anna Partoll, ne Schmid, and emigrated to Chicago in 1935. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army in WW II, and afterward, attended Elmhurst College and the Illinois School of Optometry on the GI bill. Later, he moved to Rockford to begin his optometry practice. He met his wife Mary in the Blackhawk Trails club where they also developed lifelong friendships with other club members.They were married in 1958 in Rockford and shared 64 years of marriage. In 1962 he opened K&L Optical in Freeport and moved his family there in 1968. Herb enjoyed playing tennis, singing in the Sveas S
