Douglas M. Halstead

Douglas "Doug" M. Halstead, 59, of Freeport, died Monday October, 28, 2013, in his home. Doug was born on November 29, 1953, in Freeport, the son of Robert and Marguerite (Dorsey) Halstead. Doug was a graduate of Dakota High School. He worked for Thermos, Larry's Tire Center and also washed cars. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Doug loved to fish, but never caught anything. Doug also enjoyed playing cards especially cribbage. Doug is survived by his sister, Roberta of Herford, Texas; brother-in-law, Larry Rockey of Freeport; two nephews, Steven and Matthew; three nieces; Barbie, Debbie and Nancy; two great-nephews, Ryan and Gavin and two great -nieces, Madeline and Macy. Also surviving are good friends Terrie L. Halstead and Dennis Rucker both of Freeport. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Father Robert Camacho will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Durand. A memorial has been established in his memory.
