Douglas L. Coomber

Douglas L. Coomber, 65, of Freeport, died Saturday April 26, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born on December 17, 1948 in Freeport, IL; the son of Melvin and Doris (Buske) Coomber. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1966. From there he served his country in Vietnam from 1966-1969. He worked for the United States Postal Service for over twenty five years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport. Douglas is survived by his mother Doris Coomber of Freeport, Il,; his sister Judy (Jerry) Calvert of Houston, TX; his uncle Glenn (Eunice) Coomber of Freeport, IL; his sister-in-law Barbara Coomber of Freeport, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Melvin Coomber; his brother Jerry Coomber; and one nephew. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 1, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
