Dorothy Voss

September 25, 1932 — December 2, 2024

Dorothy Pearl Voss, 92, of Freeport, IL passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at Ascension Living Saint Jospeh Village in Freeport. She was born September 25, 1932 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Albert and Florence (Katzenberger) Myers. On January 1, 1950, she married Howard Voss in Thompson, IL. They were married for over 63 years. Howard passed away December 7, 2013. Howard and Dorothy spent their lives farming together in the Bolton area. They passed on to their children and grandchildren the love of hard work and caring for the land. When Dorothy wasn't helping on the farm, she could be found in the kitchen cooking "farmer meals" and baking. She enjoyed cookie baking and donut making days with her daughter and granddaughters. Her granddaughters have continued these traditions using her legendary recipes. She was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as a Deaconess. Those that knew her well, knew her Faith and Family were the two most important things to her. Not many days went by, where she didn't read her Bible or daily devotion.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Brenner of Shannon, IL and her son, Randy Voss of Freeport, IL; six grandchildren Scott (Jennifer) Brenner, Sarah (Donald) Graybill, Stephanie (Matt) Mitchell, Shevawn Brenner, Krista (Carlos) Perez, and Rodney Voss; fifteen great-grandchildren Brian, Madasyn (Teddy), Marianna, Mason, and Trevor Brenner; Ethan, Eli and Emily Graybill; Jacob and Mya Mitchell; Emily, Joe, Justine, Jasmine, Carlos Perez and one great-great grandson Bow Ils. She also enjoyed spending time with her several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, husband, brother Bernard Myers, sister Arlie Janicke, son-in-law Claire Brenner, and two grandsons Jason Voss and Ryan Voss.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 9, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Pastor Matt Mitchell officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Dorothy’s memory.
