Dorothy V. Cole, 93, a resident of Arlington Rehabilitation and Living Center, Long Grove and former Freeport resident died Monday in Long Grove. She was born in Freeport on May 22, 1918 ,the daughter of William A. and Edith H. (Toelle) Wienand. On June 19, 1937 Dorothy married Eldred M. Cole in Freeport. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1988. Dorothy was a member of Embury United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Elks and Germania Club. She enjoyed bowling and playing golf . Dorothy and her husband enjoyed traveling the country and playing golf. Mrs. Cole was employed by Burgess Battery, Commonwealth-Edison and was a twenty five year employee of Northern Illinois Gas- NICOR, working in the Customer Service Department. Dorothy is survived by; two brothers; William (Dolores) Wienand of Freeport and Greg (Barb) Wienand of Gilbert, Arizona. Two sisters; Betty (Glen) Mogle of Freeport and Delores Resh of Orlando, Florida. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters ; Vera Johnson and Jeanette Bock-Stahler. Funeral Services will be Friday, 3:00 P.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Rev. Jonathan Singleton, pastor of Embury will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until time of service in Burke Tubbs . Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
