Dorothy Louise Albert

Dorothy Louise Albert, 91, of Freeport, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Stephenson Nursing Home. Dorothy was born October 9, 1926 in Stephenson County, the daughter of Ulrich and Lena (Schneeberger) Ruf. She married Harold G. "Bud" Albert October 13, 1951 in Rock Grove, Illinois. Bud and Dorothy farmed the family land south of Freeport for many years. Mr. Albert died June 13, 2014. Dorothy was a 1943 graduate of Orangeville High and 1945 graduate of Brown Business School. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Dorothy enjoyed painting, gardening, working on genealogy, and above all being around and spending time with her family. She loved her grandchildren dearly. Surviving are her two sons, Blaine (Peggy) Albert of Reedsburg, Wisconsin and Dean (Annette) Albert of Freeport; two daughters, Wendy Byerley and Lisa (Victor) Hoyer both of Freeport; grandchildren, Dallas (Mary Moss) Zimmerman, Jessica (Nicholas) Jones, Sarah Albert, Bill (Carly Jacqueline) Albert, and Molly Albert; great-grandchildren, Addalyn Jones, Holly Jones, Blaine Zimmerman, and Hennley Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Ruth Ruf of Monroe, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two infant children, two brothers, Walter Ruf and Donald Ruf; three sisters, Alice Monte, Ida Scudder, and Marie Jones; and grandson, Blaine Zimmerman. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 24, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Thomson will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs.
