Dorothy Henderson

Dorothy M. Henderson, age 85 died peacefully on Sunday February 4, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Center. She was born on January 23, 1933 to Francenia and LeRoy Lenz. Dorothy graduated from Freeport High School in 1951. She married G.Bernard Henderson on November 14, 1953 at St Joseph's Catholic Church. Freeport IL. Together they had four children and spent 44 wonderful years together before he passed on September 10, 1997. Dorothy had an art for sewing and was a gifted seamstress for many years having worked for Borchers and Alan's Menswear, but her most cherished gift was her love for her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, friends, and all who knew her and will be deeply and sorely missed by all. She was a member of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Surviving is her daughter Barbara (Deacon Kim) Hemesath, Freeport; two sons Mark Henderson, Bernie Henderson, Peoria, AZ; Grandchildren Alicia (Tom) Schofield Freeport, Aaron (Laurie) Hemesath Winnebago, Amanda Henderson Peoria AZ, Brandon Henderson Seattle WA, Amber Henderson and Barbara Jo (fianc Robbie Wellman) Henderson Pecatonica,IL; Great -Grandchildren, Zachary Schofield, Ryan Hemesath, Jace and Aries Molina, Jake Henderson , Braylon Otthenhausen and Rylan and Treylen Wellman; two brothers Donald. (Dee) Lenz, Freeport, and Robert (Peggy) Lenz Bloomington IL; one sister Floreida, Lanes Rancho Palos Verdes CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her husband, infant daughter Vicki Ann, her parents a sister Delores West, brother in law Martin Lanes and sister in law Jan Lenz. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 9, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Ken Anderson presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
