Dorothy F. Stewart

Dorothy Stewart, 89, of Freeport, died Saturday January 4, 2014, at Stephenson Nursing Center. Dorothy was born on September 28, 1924, in Seward, Illinois, the daughter of George and Annetta (Borgmann) Baal. Dorothy married Frederick Stewart Sr. on May 19, 1946 in Champaign-Urbana. Mr. Stewart died on April 16, 1979. Dorothy was member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going out to eat. Dorothy was very active and some of her most enjoyable time was spent going on long rides and enjoying nature and wildlife. Surviving are three sons, Frederick (Barbara) Stewart of Davis, Robert (Marlene) Stewart of Cedarville, and Kenneth (Dawn) Stewart of Longview, Texas; two daughters, Donna (Wayne) Woodley and Linda (David) Van Matre both of Freeport; brother, George (Erma) Baal of German Valley; sister, Marilyn Peck of German Valley. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, daughter, two brothers, and one great grandson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 11, 2014 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
